Here's some info about North Caicos from Karen Preikschat (Silver Palm, ex-Ocean Beach).

Dear All
These are some photos from Provo, from my friend.

Salt Cay has had a mandatory evacuation of all residents. Grand Turk is a mess, power might not be fully restored until December.
Poach said that we might get power by today. They just had one pole to work on. Parts of Sandy Point had power last night.
Donations can be sent to the Red Cross in UK, specify the country you wish to send to, I know some people have been asking me and Laura's idea was the Red Cross. I wish
we could get the airlines to allow us to send supplies directly.

Sept 8:
I talked to Poach at 11:30pm on the 6th. Winds were getting bad. Didn't hear again from him until 2:40pm on Sunday. His building on Horsestable road OK. Restaurant (Silver Palm), screens on upper section above the railing on the porch are a right off. Screen door ok. Some shingles off, part of a dorimer lifted slightly, gutter above slider off but fixable. Worst part was 11:30 to 5:00am. At one point Poach was going to leave but turned back and stayed in the apartment. He jammed wood and piece of steel in the slider upstairs and stayed holding it for 2 hours. Lots of landscape damage.
When Poach finally ventured out he had to go the Pumkin Bluff way because electrical pole was down and trees.
He said the island looks like a disaster, he hasn't seen anything like it in person before. He said it was very scary during the night.
They figure that it will be 1-2 weeks before they can restore power. He started cooking up some of the food from the freezer and fridge yesterday. So many poles are down. No one died on North.
Grand Turk has unconfirmed deaths. Grand Turk and South Caicos did get the worst. All South Caicos boats were swept away. Parts of Provo the power is on.
I asked Poach if I should come and he said no. Not enough damage to file insurance claim, and the power issue. The Royal Navy is sending help from England.
The telephone land lines are down, digecel tower down, just some c&w cell phones are working.
Poach was going to try and call again today or tomorrow, cell phones wont last long without a place to charge....
Here are some pics of North from Desyrn, not from Ike but Hanna. So much for the new roads, & the causeway is clearly out of commission:
