Exams


Format The two midterm exams and final exam will be designed to be completed in approximately 1 hour, comprised of a mixture of fill-in-the-blank, short answer, and essay questions. Each exam will be worth 100 points.

Content

All material from the Monday and Wednesday lectures will be covered in the exams. Material from the Discussion Sessions will not be covered in the exams! Exams will focus on new material, but students should also expect questions that require cumulative understanding and knowledge required to deal with this new material. The Final Exam will not be comprehensive.

The first question of each test will be:

What are the 3 primary evolutionary branches of life? (5 points)

The answer to this question is (and these must be spelled correctly) :

Bacteria, Archaea, and Eukarya


Dates

  • Midterm exam 1 : Feb 4
  • Midterm exam 2 : Mar 23
  • Final exam : May 4 at 8:00AM

Students must not miss any of the exams. Make-up exams will be given only in very unusual situations and if permission is obtained before the regular exam is given. Make-up exams may not be in the same format as the regular exams.

Students taking the course on-line will wherever possible take the same tests at the same time and place as the other students in the course. An alternative test time & place will be arranged for on-line students with scheduling conflicts
