Jim works on university paperwork, reviews grants & manuscripts, writes papers & grant proposals, teaches, serves on committees, directs the students in the lab, etc, etc. He has a lab bench he uses primarily for preping the lab for MB 451; the last time he ran an actual experiment was apparently sometime in the late Cretaceous.

Valerie is working on a collaboration with Dr. Paul Agris and his student Estella Gustilo on the analysis of the Bacillus subtilis tRNA synthetase (Gly) mRNA leader sequence T-box and it's binding to the cognate tRNA. Valerie is also working on the fundamental biochemical analysis of the RNase P enzyme and it's RNA subunit in Pyrobaculum aerophilum.
